Hope Church 2025 Autumn Writing Contest

Sharpen your pencils and your imagination—Hope Church is hosting our first ever Autumn Writing Contest! This is a chance for students to grow as writers, explore creativity, and celebrate the beauty of fall through storytelling.


✍️ Contest Categories

  1. Elementary Division (Grades K–5)
  2. Middle/High School Division (Grades 6–12)


🍂 Theme: “A Season of Change”

Entries may be fiction, poetry, or personal narrative inspired by autumn, transformation, family, faith, gratitude, or personal growth.


📝 Entry Guidelines

  1. Length:
  2. Elementary: maximum 500 words
  3. Middle/High School: maximum 1,000 words
  4. Submissions must be original student work (No AI or plagiarism allowed)
  5. Must include student name, grade, and parent contact info
  6. Submit digitally by uploading through our entry form below
  7. Deadline: Friday, November 28th, 2025


🏆 Prizes

Each division will have:

  • 1st Place – $35 Walmart Gift Card + Hope Church Prize Pack
  • 2nd Place – $20 Gift Card
  • 3rd Place – Certificate of Excellence


Winning entries will also be featured on Hope Church’s social media and sent out in a press release!

  • Do you have a press release?

  • Who can enter the contest?

    Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade may enter. Submissions will be judged in two divisions:

     • Elementary (Grades K–5)

     • Middle/High School (Grades 6–12)

  • Do we have to follow a theme?

    Yes, the theme is “A Season of Change.” Students may submit a story, poem, or personal essay inspired by autumn, growth, transformation, faith, or thankfulness.

  • Does my submission have to be about church or religion?

    No, but positive and uplifting content is encouraged. Stories that reflect good values, hope, or meaning are welcome.

  • What types of writing are allowed?

    Students may submit fiction, poetry, or personal narrative.

  • Can I submit more than one entry?

    No. Only one entry per student will be accepted.

  • Do parents need to approve the entry?

    Yes, the submission form includes a parent/guardian consent section.

  • Where can I get more information?

    A judging team will evaluate entries based on creativity, clarity, theme connection, originality, and impact.
